What is Celiac Disease (Wheat Allergy)
celiac disease, also spelled, Coeliac disease, Gluten allergy, Gluten intolerance, wheat allergy, Wheat intolerance, is an autoimmune disorder of the gut (small intestine) that occurs in hereditarily predisposed individuals of all ages from middle infancy onward.
Wheat intolerance – Why people are suffered of wheat intolerance still it has not been found out. However, some specialists consider that due to lack of enzymes in the body there is no proper digestion of wheat.
Gluten Intolerance – Celiac disease also known as gluten enteropathy. Celiac disease is a hereditary disease of immune system in the body. Gluten protein play a role like a villain. The gluten enters into the body with the wheat, then starts to destroy muscle of small intestine. Mucosa of small intestine absorbs the nutrients of the food and it is proceeds to the blood. Vitamins, calcium, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and others nutrients are in the food. Due to the damage of mucosa, small intestine cannot absorb the nutrients from food and there is a lack of nutrients in the body that is why human body is suffered of malnutrition. Celiac disease (IGA and IGG antibodies) are result of reaction of gluten.
Coeliac or celiac disease or wheat allergy is due to a reaction to gliadin, a prolamin (gluten protein) present in wheat, and similar other common grains such as barley and rye. On exposure to gliadin, and particularly to three peptides present in prolamins, the enzyme tissue transglutaminase alters the protein, and the body immune system cross-reacts with the small-intestinal tissue, leads to an inflammatory reaction. That goes to a truncating of the villi lining the small intestine (called villous atrophy). This obstructs with the absorption of nutrients as the intestinal villi are liable for absorption. The only well-known effective treatment of wheat allergy is a permanent gluten-free diet(According to some Doctors). Wheat allergy affected should strictly avoid wheat products. A wheat free diet always good for the intestine to heal and relief the symptoms in wheat allergy.
Whereas the wheat allergy is due to a reaction to wheat proteins, it is commonly classified as different from the other forms of wheat allergy.
More and more, diagnoses are being prepared in individuals without symptoms as a result of augmented screening. In India celiac disease is well known as wheat allergy because of excessive intake of wheat. In infants , celiac disease can be early find out by proper test but in old aged people symptoms are not seen so serious .Doctors consider wheat allergy as other disease like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food allergy, chronic fatigue , anorexia.
